Qirā’ah of Nāfiʿ al-Madanī
Imam Abū Ruwaym Nāfiʿ ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Laythī al-Madanī (d. 169 AH / Al-Madīnah al-Munawwarah)
The foremost Imam of recitation in the City of the Messenger ﷺ. He studied directly with seventy of the Tābiʿīn who recited to leading Companions including Ubayy ibn Kaʿb, Zayd ibn Thābit, and ʿAbdullāh ibn ʿAbbās.
مدینہ منورہ کے امامِ قراءت۔ انہوں نے ستر تابعین سے قراءت حاصل کی جنہوں نے حضرت ابی بن کعب، زید بن ثابت اور عبداللہ بن عباس رضی اللہ عنہم سے روایت کی۔
मदीना मुनव्वरा के इमाम-ए-क़िराअत। उन्होंने 70 ताबेईन से क़िराअत हासिल की जिन्होंने जलील-उल-क़द्र सहाबा से सीखा।
Principal Narrators (Ruwāt)
Qālūn ʿan Nāfiʿ
The chief student of Imam Nāfiʿ in Madinah. Nāfiʿ affectionately called him 'Qālūn' (meaning 'good/beautiful' in the Roman tongue) due to the exquisite quality of his recitation.
Warsh ʿan Nāfiʿ
The esteemed Egyptian narrator who traveled to Madinah to complete several full recitations before Imam Nāfiʿ. Nāfiʿ took great joy in his voice and nicknamed him Warsh. It is the primary recitational tradition across North and West Africa.
